Ubuntu-Harambee Group Therapy
Alice Tindi has adopted Ubuntu framework as a novel way of conducting group therapy for trauma survivors that engages the body, mind and the brain through music, dance and movement. We drumming, and other instruments participants suggest.
Ubuntu recognizes that trauma and other adverse childhood experiences breaks human dignity, creates mistrust, insecurity and disconnection. Ubuntu reminds us of our shared humanity and relatedness to others, “I am because you are.” Ubuntu group seeks to restore interconnectedness through sharing of stories supporting each other and healing together.
Harambee means, “Pulling together.” it emphasizes collective strength and calls for coming together in unity to address a need/problem for the benefit of all.
Group therapy’s effectiveness lies in its ability to help you find connections with other people and their experiences. These therapist-guided sessions will help you learn more about yourself and how to improve the way you feel while feeling support from others who understand your experience.
